  • Pan Fried Asian Tofu with Miso Ginger Sauce

I absolutely love tofu.  It's a great substitute when you don't want to cook meat and it makes for a quick weeknight meal.

Pan Fried Tofu is something my Grandmother used to cook for me all the time when growing up.  We never really ate that much red meat so our protein of choice was tofu.

What I like most about this recipe and dish, is that it's simple.  The Miso Ginger sauce is very flavorful and slightly sweetened by some honey.  It's pretty easy to pan fry and the hardest thing about this dish is probably grating the ginger.   To finish it off I like to top mine with a ton of green onions as garnish.

Tip:  If you're in a pinch and only have TOFU on hand, another variation of this dish is just a simple pan fry with olive oil, sea salt and a dash of white pepper.  Garnish with green onions if you have them on hand.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of soft tofu

Miso Ginger Sauce:
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger, grated
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. miso paste (white miso)
  • 2 - 3 tsp. of low sodium soy sauce
                    - or - water (for a low sodium substitution)
  • 1 Tbsp. honey

Green Onion Garnish:
  • green onions, chopped
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
  • sesame seeds (optional)

Ready in Total Time:  20 min.

Prep Time = 5 min.
